Banyan Tree/Sai Ngam
In the immediate vicinity of our Thai houses along Moon River you can see one of the world’s
most immense tree plants – an Indian ficus.
Over the course of several centuries many of its aerial roots have turned into trunks so that today
their intertwined branches cover an area of 30,000 square feet.
The light and shadow effects of this great tree are sanguine and restful.
To most Thais the area is “holy ground”, and once a year in April they celebrate and venerate
the “Mother of Sai Ngam”.
