Festivals
Phimai Festival 2020: November 11 - 15
In November of each year the town recognizes its cultural heritage by organizing a communal
celebration which lasts for three days.
Many streets of the town are lined with market stalls; there are stages for shows
of traditional Thai dancing and music as well as Chinese opera performances.
But the main attractions are the very elaborate light & sound shows within the ancient Khmer temple
compound and the traditional long boat races on the Chakkarat River just west of the old town.
Loy Krathong
Also held in November, “floating crowns” may well be the most romantic of the Thai festivals.
Songkran April
Around the middle of April the Buddhist New Year is greeted by joyful celebrating everywhere in town.
